Mirror mirror on the wall …..

Life has our paths cross with those of many people over time…. , with several opportunities to create many relationships. But sooner than later, you realize that the most important of them all is the one you share with yourself. Its who you are versus who you think you are within your skin….

Its those 3 AM moments , in front of the mirror … when you are staring into the abyss of your eyes …. and going “What is the life lesson i am being asked to learn …. and what am i missing .. ” in your head…. that motivates this post.

And a quick realization hits you, that sums up well by the saying …., We are who we are, when no one is watching.

Mood : Deviousness …. ( watched Shaitaan earlier …. \m/ )

“We are who we are, when no one is watching” – True. But sometimes,we are so happy to delude ourselves that we convince ourselves what we want to believe, even if deep down(in some cases, deep deep deep down :P) we know who we actually are.

It takes honesty and courage to face up to the real person inside with all the flaws. And sometimes,we honestly don’t know who we are,in the sense that we have this preconceived notions in our head that this is who we are and this is how we would react in a certain situation and this is what we would never do.But when we are in that situation, how we actually react to it might sometimes take us by surprise. And thats a true eye opener to who we really are.It is fun and sometimes quite unnerving to find out the real us 🙂

    P.S: how was Shaitaan?

The behavioral aspect aside, i agree!! Because i think one can live with the fact that one behaved differently in a given situation which during conventional thinking would have him/her think otherwise. I say that because behavior is not random , its the best a person can be in that moment based on every experience that has lead him/her there.

But the fluidity of the identity one has , as a result of experiences … is astounding. You can be superman with a cape one moment…… and a road kill the very next!! There is no …. superman having a bad day. I should hide my bright blue T-Shirt now i guess… (sigh!!)

      Attention !!! – – – Spoiler Alert – – – 😛 😛

Shaitaan is okay .. so so. I am not going to point all the holes in the story or rip it off pretending to be a movie buff or a critique , but yes, it hasnt had me hooked as much as i thought i might, watching the trailers. The screenplay is great!! The let down is that there are lots of “me in my head” moments for the characters, which is important to be portrayed spot on … but they fail to impress. They come off as impulsive or loose. What has me hooked though is the background score and the music played in the trailers — FTW!! ( And oh this is not the Yoda style of writing/speaking backwards … i still mean FTW!! 😛 )

So yes, dont set ur expectations too high to be thrilled … considering its a Anurag Kashyap film …. whoever that is. But for a weekend movie, its not too bad. I have seen worse!

Dig down deep, we have so many questions, only we know to which we have our secret answers and to which with have absolutely no clue. Most of the time, we spend in making an identity that doesn’t show all these out like an open book and then this identity morphs into something else that a third person percieves.
Guess we connect to the ones who percieves us close to the identity that we make up to the outside world, however true or untrue that is.
The only true war is with yourself.

Your post reminded me of a quote from Sarah Conner Chronicles (http://ebony-nivory.livejournal.com/92750.html)
“Know thyself.” John once told me it’s inscribed on the front of the temple of Apollo. The entire quote is, “Know thyself and thou shall know all the mysteries of the gods and of the universe.” That’s quite a mouthful. My version is this, “Know thyself because what else is there to know?” People hide secrets, time is a lie, the material world can disappear in an instant. It has and it will again. Our identities change. Our names, the way we look, how we act and speak. We’re shape-shifters. There is no control, no constant, no shelter but the love of family and the body God gave us. And we can only hope that will always be enough.

Shaitaan was a decent watch. They could have had a more gripping story I agree. By the way the eerie background score starts off very similar to pink floyd sounds 🙂

Hmm… “Know thysef …” I will risk sounding rhetorical asking myself this aloud…. will we ever figure ourselves…. were we ever built for that?

Like a work of art from the hands of an artist, that has no purpose….. or function than being anything but itself ….. evoking emotions in every being it encounters …. are we just …meant to be … evoking emotions/experiences in one another ?

On those lines, are we simply stressing too much about individuality ….. “trying” to give our “self” an identity ( which is soo borrowed on others perception ) … a derived purpose … and hence meaning!

PS : Swetha! thanks for the link… your post has me thinking on a different tangent… Without working it too much here….. will reply on ur post!
